Do You Binge Pray?

We all know what binge eating is--when you eat and eat and eat so much it is called a binge. Typically, when people binge eat, they might be withholding eating at other times. Recently I've been considering a challenge to move consistently more throughout the day instead of "binge exercise," meaning we should not only exercise hard and get a good workout done for 30-45 minutes a day, but what if we seek to also move and be active all throughout the day. I have been thinking on this, and I now am applying this in my prayer life.

I do not want to just begin my day in prayer and then neglect to pray during the rest of the day. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells us to "Pray without ceasing" and Colossians 4:2, to "Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving." We are to pray continually!

"To begin the day with prayer is but a formality unless it go on in prayer, unless for the rest of it we pray in deed what we began in word.  One has said that while prayer is the day's best beginning it must not be like the handsome title-page of a worthless book."  P.T. Forsyth

Recently I made practical changes to ensure that I was praying throughout my day. I set up numerous alarms throughout my day to be reminders to pray certain prayers the Lord has put on my heart. For example, some are for my kids, my marriage, my family, my vision and purpose.

Also, those prayers include prayers for South Asia. I use the NPL Prayer App. NPL means "no place left" and it leads you to pray for different villages in just one minute.  It tracks all of the places you are praying for.  It really is just one minute and even has a timer. Would you join in the work going on in South Asia and keep praying with us!

I also am World using the Operation World App to pray for all of the Nations and also to learn about places all over the world!  It give you a country and information about it, walks you through a prayer and also gives you stats and "more."

I challenge you to consider doing this.  Consider how often you hop on social media to just check something for one second.  Might we hop on a prayer app and intervene for the lost!

Also, Please, do not dare believe the lie of the enemy that prayer should only be when we have longer, special, quiet, set aside time to give to this discipline. Prayer is calling out to the Lord, and that might even be a few seconds, one minute, or a longer time when possible.  I believe the Lord will accept our small, quick prayers and answer in big ways. God is a multiplier!  Just as he took 5 loaves and 2 fishes and feed 5000 people, he can and will take our small prayers and deliver big answers! Luke 16:10, "One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much."
